The Portland Lumberjacks scored a tight, 6-5 win versus the Chicago Black Sox at The Trail in Multnomah. Portland pitcher Mauro Esperanda held his own in the contest. Esperanda got the win, improving to 4-4. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Picking up the save was former first round draft pick Aswad Azeem.

Making an impact for the home team was Daniel Frampton. In the bottom of the sixth, the former first round draft pick had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 4-2, Lumberjacks.

"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Esperanda.

The Lumberjacks have an impressive 39-24 record.
