Alonso Amaya was locked in. The right-hander led the Des Moines Kernels to a 4-2 win against the San Fernando Bears at Kid Krauss's Kum & Go Kourtyard. Amaya picked up the win for Des Moines, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. Picking up the save was Scott Everard, his 15th.

The Bears had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Kernels going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old right fielder Ricardo Magana came to the plate. Magana hit a run-scoring double on a full count cutter from San Fernando hurler Xavier Vargas. It was Magana's 9th double of the year.
