Surprise Draws Blanks Against Houston
|
In a remarkable performance, New Jersey Devils starter Ken Houston beat the Surprise Talons, 8-0, in an impressive 5-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Devils hurler finished with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Surprise manager Ramón Ríos said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
This year, Houston has made 20 starts, thrown 142.1 innings, fanned 97 batters and walked 33. His won-lost record is 8-7 with a 3.86 ERA.
