Mad Popes Show Moxy in 4-3 Win
|
The Sacramento Mad Popes locked up a win at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough, knocking off the Omaha Cyclones, 4-3. On the mound for Sacramento was left-hander Mario Reyes. He played a major role in the triumph. The win belonged to Ludwig Werberg in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Enzo Bouton took the loss for Omaha. At 37-27, the Mad Popes claim second place in the Frick League Pacific Division.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Sacramento left fielder Craig Williams, facing Enzo Bouton, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Mad Popes the 4-3 win.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Williams said.
