Swamp Foxes Get Close Win Over Hustlers, 2-1
|
Grigore Balas, who is tied for 3rd in the JL with a 8.5 K/9 rate, was in top form in a tight contest between Cape Fear and Las Vegas. The Swamp Foxes right-hander helped his team beat the Hustlers, 2-1. Nasir al Din bin Sahir, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Earl Cox, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
Iván Alvarado, who is on pace for 104 RBI this season, had a direct impact on the outcome. Alvarado contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Cape Fear up, 2-1.
"We busted our tails," said Las Vegas manager Henry Rectenberg. "But we came up short."
The loss makes Las Vegas 36-29.
