Crawdads Need Extra Innings to Top Aztecs, 8-4
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Quetzalcoatl Dome.

The New Orleans Crawdads topped the Mexico City Aztecs, 8-4, in 13 innings at Quetzalcoatl Dome. The game was highlighted by the performance of New Orleans pitcher Ed Smith. Joe Shaw picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Mike Dykstra, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2062 draft, was tagged with the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Peter Mitchell came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Mexico City pitcher Mike Dykstra, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New Orleans on top, 5-4.

"Our team found a way to get it done," said Smith.

The Crawdads sit in 7th place in the Johnson League Atlantic Division with a record of 26-39.
