Shredders Get 4th Straight Win with Late Rally
|
The Austin Shredders picked up a win at Denny's Paul D. Lunn Memorial Stadium Presented By Subaru, knocking off the Phoenix Talons, 5-3. Starting pitcher Glenn Hargrove played a key role in the triumph. Pepe Rivera was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Ernesto Juárez. The victory makes Austin 6-1.
Austin needed the clutch hitting of Ray Hoskins to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Shredders on top, 5-3. For the game, Hoskins had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Hoskins said his team "played with focus."
