Newton Pitches Blue Claws to Shutout Victory
|
Kieran Newton subdued the Daytona Beach Cruisers, 3-0, pitching a 3-hit gem for the All Saints Blue Claws at Hogg Pound.
"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," All Saints skipper Tommy Snow said.
Newton registered 9 strikeouts and issued 3 walks in his superb performance.
"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Daytona Beach manager Rashardo Menne III after the defeat.
Newton has made 6 starts so far this year and put up a 3-1 won-lost record with a 1.88 ERA. In 38.1 innings he has allowed 29 hits, walked 10 and struck out 24.
