Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Nashville Bluebirds and Vancouver Mounties.
The Nashville Bluebirds locked up a win at Northwoods Outpost, knocking off the Vancouver Mounties, 4-3. On the mound for Nashville was right-hander Eric Stevens. He played a major role in the triumph. In 6 innings, Stevens surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Terence Harris closed out the game, earning his 2nd save.
Nashville needed the clutch hitting of Ra'id Usamah to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bluebirds on top, 4-1. For the game, Usamah had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Usamah told the Nashville News. "Whatever it takes."
Nashville's record now stands at 46-20, placing them first in the Frick League Heartland Division.
