Deleón on Fire: 5-for-7 for Western Europe
|
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Carlos Deleón -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Kangaroos Field and paced the 15-6 Avengers win over the Australia Kangaroos.
After his dynamite batting performance, the Western Europe second baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 7 tries and put his name in the record book. Carlos Deleón hit a two-run double in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, struck out in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
In 2063 Deleón has hit at a .460 clip with 92 hits, 5 home runs, 60 RBIs and has scored 85 times.
