Bears Defeated, 7-5, After Louisville Rallies
|
The Louisville Sluggers downed the San Fernando Bears, 7-5, at Chico's Bail Bonds Field. The Sluggers were led by Gustavo Canales. Canales went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 3 times. Eduardo Cadibid came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-0. Darrel Burns recorded his 16th save for Louisville.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Millard Nielsen? The Louisville shortstop had a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Sluggers on top, 7-5. For the game, Nielsen had 1 double and 3 singles in 4 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Louisville manager Bernardo Herrera.
The victory gives the Sluggers a record of 36-33.
