Hashimoto, Pilots Romp Over Brisas, 16-1
The Sao Paulo Pilots got production from their entire lineup in an easy 16-1 win over the Buenos Aires Brisas. Doing his part was first baseman Katsunan Hashimoto. Hashimoto, who finished 2nd in the GBC EA in wins above replacement with 6.5 in 2058, slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. Randolph Marable, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Brisas to no runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Robby Mahoney, who is a two-time All-Star, nailed down the save.

With Sao Paulo leading 8-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Hashimoto came up to bat against Buenos Aires pitcher Roger Hagerty. Hashimoto hit a cutter to right for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Pilots on top, 12-0.

"It was full throttle on our side," said Hashimoto.

With the loss, Buenos Aires sinks to 0-2.
