The Hawaii Tropics stormed past the Chicago Black Sox, 13-5, at ‘Iolani Palace. Hawaii designated hitterVicente Martínez , who is tied for 3rd in the FL in runs scored with 55, led the hit parade. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The third-place Tropics go to 39-32.

With Hawaii leading 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth, Martínez came up to bat against Chicago pitcher Joey Naybet. Martínez hit a curveball to left-center for a grand slam home run. His 27th home run of the season put the Tropics on top, 10-4.

"We knocked the fire out of the ball," said Hawaii manager Amato Cruz. "The guys swung the bats pretty good, and that's fun to see."
