San Fernando Blanked by Stevens, 6-0
|
The San Fernando Bears were almost helpless in their 6-0 loss to the Nashville Bluebirds and hurler Eric Stevens. Stevens kept the Bears confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Stevens," San Fernando manager Gonzalo Escobar said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 31-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Stevens said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
Checking out his stats for the season, Stevens has registered 10 wins and 3 losses in 15 starts, posted a 3.87 ERA, and struck out 76 batters in 86 innings.
