The Sacramento Mad Popes faced a tough opponent in Yellow Springs pitcher Dewey Harris, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Utopia Field by a final score of 6-4. Harris went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Ludwig Werberg, who is a three-time All-Star, was the winner in relief. His record is now 6-0. The losing pitcher was Heng-zong Tang. At 43-29, Sacramento is in second place in the Frick League Pacific Division.

Sacramento used the timely hitting of Craig Williams to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mad Popes on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I still think this team can play even better," Williams told the Sacramento Chronicle.
