Mounties Deal River Monsters 6-3 Defeat
|
The Mounties grabbed a win, 6-3, at Land O' Lakes Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Twin Cities pitcher Ángelo Rodríguez. Rodríguez went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. Motka Beteev, the winner, improved to 5-5. He held the River Monsters to 2 runs on 4 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The Mounties go to 39-33, putting them 4th in the Frick League Pacific Division.
Vancouver used a well-timed hit by Zhi Li to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Mounties ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Li attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
