Sydney Picks Up Another L
|
London turned a fine outing from starter Luca Maundrell into a victory over the Sydney Sharks at Blacktown International Sportspark. The final score was 4-2. Maundrell, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Getting the save was Ron McLeish, his 3rd.
London used the timely hitting of Xing-li Kun to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Monarchs on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Sydney skipper Jim Sánchez, "and it cost us."
Sydney is now 1-6.
