In a tight tilt between the Johannesburg Gold and the Sydney Sharks, Aaron Bridges was the deciding factor. The Johannesburg right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Khawaja Patel got the save, the 3rd for him this season. The Sharks, now 3-10, continue their poor start.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman James Belinda came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Sydney pitcher Ryan Cline, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Johannesburg on top, 3-2.
Bridges said his team "played with determination."
