San Fernando turned a fine outing from starter Xavier Vargas into a victory over the Nashville Bluebirds at Chico's Bail Bonds Field. The final score was 4-0. Vargas, now 2-1, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. San Fernando goes to 33-40, Nashville to 47-26.

Aggur Lugono had a big 2-run double for the Bears in the bottom of the third inning. With San Fernando leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Jim Ploughman, who led the FL in wins with 19 last year, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bears ahead, 4-0.

"I really like what we did out there today," Vargas said after the game.
