The London Monarchs trumped the Moscow Thunder Bears, 7-5, at Bears Den. London second baseman Mika Taine was terrific. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Ron McLeish, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Warren Burchett recorded his 2nd save for London.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 23-year old right fielder Pablo Gamboa. Gamboa had a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Monarchs ahead, 6-5. For the game, Gamboa had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Gamboa.

London is now 17-18, while Moscow is 11-24.
