The Valencia Stars topped the Chicago Black Sox, 6-5, in Frick League action at Vinnie Vitale Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Valencia pitcher and Higashikurume, Japan, native Shiro Takahashi. Eduardo Moreno was credited with the save, his 14th in 14 tries. The loss makes Chicago 37-37.

Valencia needed the clutch hitting of Mark Kimball to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stars on top, 6-5. For the game, Kimball had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Kimball.
