Sacramento Breezes to 14-2 Win
|
The Sacramento Mad Popes got production up and down the lineup while beating the Vancouver Mounties, 14-2. One standout was right fielder Craig Williams. Williams, who finished 3rd in the FL in on-base percentage with .388 last year, was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Pedro Gonsáles earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game. Sacramento goes to 85-57. The win puts them 3 games up in their division.
Callum Browne, who is tied for 7th in the FL with a .314 batting average, came through for Sacramento with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. The designated hitter went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 3 runs batted in.
"That game went belly up quickly," said losing manager Hung-k'uei Cui.
