On Road, Black Sox Top Sluggers, 5-4
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Chicago Black Sox and Louisville Sluggers.
The Chicago Black Sox withstood a fine game by Louisville designated hitter John Coxtolstoy at Kentucky Truck Plant Stadium, to upend the Sluggers, 5-4. Coxtolstoy was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Augusto Ayala closed out the game, earning his 7th save.
Tony Cochran had a big 2-run home run for the Black Sox in the top of the third inning. With Chicago leading 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from Tommy Akers, who finished 2nd in the FL in innings pitched with 211.2 in 2060, and punished it. The result was his 28th home run of the season, which put the Black Sox on top, 5-1.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Louisville manager Bernardo Herrera. "The effort was great."
The Black Sox are now 82-61.
