Stars Suffer One-Run Loss at Hawaii
Hawaii designated hitter Lynn Avison was a significant contributor in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Valencia Stars. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Tropics. Reliever Cale Cote picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Lindsay Barber, who finished 3rd in the FL in saves with 35 in 2060, took the loss. Gheorghe Sollomovici got the save, his 13th in 16 chances.

The Tropics got a big at-bat from right fielder Vincente Méndez. For the game, Méndez went 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Hawaii a 5-4 lead.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Avison told the Hawaii Bulletin. "Whatever it takes."

The triumph puts Hawaii at 84-60 for the season.
