Nine Topple River Monsters, 3-1, as Gabriel Shines
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Utopia Field. Fortunately for the Yellow Springs Nine, though, Roberto Gabriel was able to deliver in the clutch. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, to lead his team past the Twin Cities River Monsters, 3-1. Cornelio Martínez got credit for the save for Yellow Springs. It was his 1st of the year. With the win, Yellow Springs goes to 66-80, while the River Monsters fall to 82-64.
Yellow Springs took a 3-1 lead on Gabriel's 41st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Andrés Gonzáles in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Yellow Springs to the win.
Yellow Springs manager Dave Tallent commended his team for "bagging a nice win."
