The Vancouver Mounties picked up a win at Northwoods Outpost, topping the Portland Lumberjacks, 6-3. On the mound for Vancouver was left-hander Dirk Bessi. He played a principal role in the triumph. Bessi got the win, improving to 11-5. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Jesús García recorded the save, making him 30 for 33.

Vancouver took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Greg Clover hit a 2-run single to make it 5-3, Mounties.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Vancouver manager Hung-k'uei Cui.

The triumph puts Vancouver at 80-66 for the season.
