Mounties, Mendoza Pin Bad Loss on Tropics

Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Vancouver Mounties and Hawaii Tropics.
The Vancouver Mounties coasted to a win over the Hawaii Tropics, 10-0. Sergio Mendoza had a good day at the plate for Vancouver. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Juan García, who is tied for 3rd in the FL in innings pitched with 185.1, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed no runs on 3 hits, with 1 walk and no strikeouts.
Vancouver used a clutch at-bat from Royce Hinkle to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mounties ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Hawaii manager Amato Cruz. "They smoked us."
Vancouver bumps their record to 74-72 with the win.
