Black Sox Win at Home, 3-0
|
Chicago Black Sox pitcher Stevie Bodine was in fine form, leading his team past the Louisville Sluggers, 3-0. Bodine, now 11-6, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Gary Powers, credited with the save, is now 15 for 20 in save opportunities.
The Black Sox had to work out of trouble in the top of the seventh. The score was 2-0, Chicago, with no one out. Louisville, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Dave Armstrong dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch slider, he flied out.
