Led by 22-year-old George Stickler, the San Antonio Outlaws downed the Austin Shredders, 6-3. Stickler was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs for San Antonio. San Antonio goes to 68-82, Austin to 57-93.
Newington, Connecticut-born Edgar Thomas came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Outlaws trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to center to put San Antonio on top.
After the game, Stickler refused to speak to a reporter for the San Antonio Today. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
