Bears Earn Win with Late Rally
|
San Fernando and Madison took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
Getting a good performance from designated hitter Keith Tims, the San Fernando Bears defeated the Madison Wolves, 5-4. Tims went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Bears. Steve Fuller earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. Bryan Longstaff notched his 14th save of the season.
Tims had a timely hit for San Fernando in the top of the eighth. With San Fernando trailing 4-3, he turned a 2-2 sinker into a 2-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season, making it 5-4, San Fernando.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said San Fernando manager Gonzalo Escobar. "It's usually not just one thing."
Madison is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
