Charlotte and Atlantic City duked it out and the Flyers came out victorious.
Charlotte Flyers right-hander Buwono Mainaky pitched a good game against the Atlantic City Gamblers at Family Dollar Field, leading his team to victory, 4-1. Mainaky picked up the win for Charlotte, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 15-7. Earning the save was Josh Dougherty. He's now cashed in 39 of 42 save opportunities.
Charlotte right fielder José Vargas contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a sinker to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 139th hit of the season and put the Flyers ahead, 2-1.
"Watch and learn," said Vargas. "This is what good pitching looks like."
The victory gives the Flyers a record of 89-62.
