Swamp Foxes Win at Home, 4-2
|
Cape Fear picked up a win at Blackwater Field, bumping off the Montreal Blazers, 4-2. Pitcher Nathaniel Davis was a major reason the Swamp Foxes emerged victorious. Davis, the winner, moves to 11-6. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Dave Ferrell earned the save, his 35th in 37 tries.
Joshua Ackland, who is tied for 10th in the JL with a .366 on-base percentage, contributed to the Cape Fear win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Ackland. "It sure beats the alternative."
The Swamp Foxes go to 66-85, putting them 6th in the Johnson League Atlantic Division.
