Charm City Wins, 6-2, Behind 2 Sasaki Home Runs
|
Jimmies designated hitter Tomiichi Sasaki put his stamp on his team's 6-2 win over the New Orleans Crawdads. Sasaki was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for Charm City in the contest. Augusto González, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Evgeny Partyka got the save, the 41st for him this season.
Sasaki had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-2 sinker from Harry Thomas, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Jimmies a 5-2 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Sasaki.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Sasaki told the Charm City Times.
The first-place Jimmies have won 8 consecutive games.
