Boosted by the 3-hit performance of Domingo Chávez, who is tied for 6th in the JL in extra base hits with 77, the Charlotte Flyers defeated the Atlantic City Gamblers, 6-2. The second-place Flyers have won 4 consecutive games.

José Bedreddin had a big 2-run home run for the Flyers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Charlotte leading 3-2 and a runner on 2nd, he got a curveball from Harry King and swatted a home run to left. It was his 30th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flyers ahead, 5-2.

"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Chávez.
