Pérez hits 2 home runs, Leads Kernels to Win
The Des Moines Kernels welcomed the Omaha Cyclones to an afternoon game at Mordonez Ballpark.

Júlio Pérez was a major contributor to the 10-4 Des Moines win over Omaha. The Kernels right fielder belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Arnold Cantrell, the winning pitcher, improved to 9-5. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 0.

Ken'ichi Okubo, who is tied for 9th in the FL in home runs with 31, helped out the Des Moines cause in the top of the fifth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the designated hitter went 2 for 4 with a double.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Okubo told the Des Moines Daily. "Whatever it takes."

The Kernels raised their record to 89-65.
