Black Sox Squelch River Monsters Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Chicago Black Sox got a magnificent performance from pitcher Randolph Marable, who muffled the Twin Cities offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Black Sox win at Vinnie Vitale Stadium. Marable, the winner, moves to 10-10. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Chicago, at 67-89, holds down 6th place in the Frick League Heartland Division.
Ángel De La Cruz had a big 2-run home run for the Black Sox in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a forkball from Will Ritter, who is tied for 2nd in the FL with a 1.03 WHIP, and punished it. The result was his 22nd home run of the season, which put the Black Sox on top, 3-0.
Chicago manager Rocky Wattson praised his team's "energy."
