Riding the 3-hit performance of the 25-year old first baseman Callum Browne, the Sacramento Mad Popes defeated the Portland Lumberjacks, 6-1. Rafael Taboada got credit for the win, improving to 9-7. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 6.2 innings. Sacramento has now won 3 in a row.

With Sacramento leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Browne hit a fastball from Murali Patachli for a 2-run home run. It was his 32nd home run of the season and put the Mad Popes ahead, 3-0.

"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Browne after the game.
