Long Beach Gets Another L
A good performance from first baseman José Barrera helped the Louisville Sluggers defeat the Long Beach Surfers, 8-1. Barrera went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Sluggers. Roberto Rodríguez, the winner, improved to 7-6. He held Long Beach to 1 run on 6 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. The losses continue to add up for Long Beach, having now dropped 9 straight.

Ricardo Capeles had a big 3-run home run for the Sluggers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Louisville leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Stephen Clulow, Jr. and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Sluggers on top, 4-0.

"Things will change for us," said Long Beach manager Mike Ellis. "When things change, we'll get clicking."
