Lumberjacks Lose By a Run at Madison
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Madison Wolves and Portland Lumberjacks.

Greg Squires did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Portland Lumberjacks from being beaten, 5-4, to the Madison Wolves at Shotz Stadium. Squires was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Jugnu Sampath, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2.2 innings.

Had Curt Holter not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Holter hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Wolves.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Holter.

The win has Madison at 29-48.
