Hebrew Hammers Snatch Late-Game, 8-7 Win
|
The Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers downed the Athens Fighting Centaurs, 8-7, the largest share of the credit belonging to center fielder Kevin Lambert. On the day, Lambert slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Hebrew Hammers. Paul Cherry, who is tied for 9th in the GBC in holds with 3, was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-4. The losing pitcher was Max Dawe. Jerusalem raised its record to 29-24 with the win.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Jerusalem. That's when Jamal bin Majd, who is tied for 7th in the GBC in doubles with 14, hit a 2-run double off Max Dawe to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"It was bedlam at the end," bin Majd said.
