McClure Slugs Hebrew Hammers to 7-5 Win
|
The Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers bested the Tokyo Pearls by a score of 7-5, with first baseman Mike McClure getting the main credit. On the day, McClure went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Hebrew Hammers. Davida Keeaola got the save, the 13th for him this season. The victory gives the Hebrew Hammers a record of 29-23.
Had Tepau Kaylaunie not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Kaylaunie hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Hebrew Hammers.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," McClure told the Jerusalem Daily, "and we played pretty well tonight."
