Pearls Win at Sao Paulo, 4-3
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Tokyo Pearls got the win.
Led by Michael Buckley, the Tokyo Pearls defeated the Sao Paulo Pilots, 4-3. Buckley went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Pearls. Tokyo pitcher Afzul Chishti earned the win, hiking his record to 4-5. Luca Maundrell suffered the loss. The save was credited to Asir Suoud, his 6th.
With Tokyo leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Buckley hit a splitter from Luca Maundrell for a 3-run home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Pearls ahead, 4-0.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Buckley told the Tokyo Daily.
The Pearls are now 28-24, while the Pilots fall to 23-28.
