The Johannesburg Gold and London Monarchs put on a pitchers' duel.

In a well-pitched game between the Johannesburg Gold and the London Monarchs, pitcher Tony Tighe was fantastic. The Johannesburg left-hander helped his team secure the win, 1-0. Johannesburg is now 27-25.

Johannesburg shortstop Fred Mailing contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 20th hit of the season and put the Gold ahead, 1-0.

"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said London manager Jack Gulliver.
