Boise Sent Home with 7-3 Loss
|
The Charm City Jimmies grabbed a win, 7-3, over the Boise Spuds at OLD BAY Park at Camden Yards. Charm City first baseman José Cardoza was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was John Mellon. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. The left--hander struck out 5 and walked 2. Charm City is now 50-28, 2½ games up in the Johnson League Atlantic Division.
The Jimmies got a big boost from shortstop Lúcio Guevara who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Spuds hurler Felipe Ledesma. It was his 21st walk of the season and put Charm City on top, 1-0.
"Winning is contagious," said Guevara. "We're looking forward to the next game."
