Pearls Beat Visiting Fighting Centaurs, 4-0
|
Tokyo Pearls pitcher Yue-jiu Lai was all business, helping his team muzzle the Athens Fighting Centaurs, 4-0. Lai, now 4-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The Pearls win now puts them at 25-35.
The Fighting Centaurs had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Pearls going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman Nelson Caraballo came to the plate. Caraballo hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from Athens hurler Luke Seddon. It was Caraballo's 5th home run of the year.
"Yue-jiu was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Tokyo manager Tiljad Mwarania.
