Athens Nets 3-2 Win Versus Hebrew Hammers
|
The Athens Fighting Centaurs had to overcome a good performance from Jerusalem pitcher José Castro to claim a 3-2 win at The Holy Land. Castro went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Hughie Dunstone finished the game for Athens and earned his 12th save. The Fighting Centaurs sport a record of 26-38.
Athens got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Rob Howell. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Fighting Centaurs ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Howell told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
