Bears Defeat Brownies, 9-5
|
The inspired effort of Brook Park second baseman Austin Nolan was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-5, to the San Fernando Bears. Nolan went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Steve Fuller was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Jesús Huerta. With the win, San Fernando has a record of 37-41. Brook Park falls to 32-46.
San Fernando used the timely hitting of Jim Sitton to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bears on top, 7-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Bears manager Gonzalo Escobar.
