Fine Effort by Belinda Not Enough in 11-6 Gold Loss
Despite a great performance by Johannesburg first baseman James Belinda, the Sao Paulo Pilots defeated the Gold by the score of 11-6 at Ballpark of Bucharest. Belinda belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Amaka Zev snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 5 runs on 7 hits over 5.1 innings. He's now 4-2 on the season. The Pilots, at 33-39, inhabit 4th place in the GBC AfSAmOc Division.

Russ McHaney had a big 2-run double for the Pilots in the bottom of the third inning. With Sao Paulo leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a changeup from 32-year old left-handed pitcher Tony Tighe and swatted a double to left. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pilots ahead, 3-0.

McHaney told a Sao Paulo Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
