Benson Shines in 9-5 Jerusalem Win
|
The Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers topped the Athens Fighting Centaurs, 9-5, with designated hitter Ted Benson playing a big role. Benson went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Hebrew Hammers in the win. Luke Seddon got credit for the win, improving to 5-4. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 5.1 innings. Davida Keeaola was called on to finish, recording his 14th save.
Fares Bruyère had a big run-scoring double for the Hebrew Hammers in the bottom of the second inning. With Jerusalem leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Abdul-Muhaimin Saleem, who is tied for 4th in the GBC EA in strikeouts with 77, and swatted a double to right. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hebrew Hammers ahead, 2-0.
"We're trending in the wrong direction," said Athens manager Raoul de Braber.
Athens's current losing streak has reached 12 games.
