Pharaohs Take Down Hebrew Hammers, 8-6
|
Due in part to center fielder Blair Peyton, the Cairo Pharaohs chopped down the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers, 8-6, in 11 innings. Peyton went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. The win puts Cairo at 60-27 this season.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Kamal bin Isa came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Jerusalem pitcher Hugh Pilgrim, he hit a 0-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cairo on top, 7-6.
"We didn't let this one get away," said Peyton.
