Sao Paulo Loss Takes Shine Off Bayi Performance
The inspired effort of Sao Paulo center fielder Saulo Bayi was not enough to prevent a loss, 11-9, to the Sydney Sharks. Bayi went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6. Sydney currently is in second place in the GBC AfSAmOc at 43-41.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Howard Walsh came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Sao Paulo pitcher Vic Ayliffe, he hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Sydney on top, 9-7.

"We ground out the win," said Walsh. "That's all that matters."
